HIAv2.1 Overview.
The Health Indicators Analyzer (HIA) is software designed to aid health providers in the interpretation of child growth based on anthropometric measurements as well as interpretation of nutritional status of patients of any age.
We have developed a computerized system that interprets child growth. Once medical staff members enter a patient’s date of birth, weight, height and head circumference into the computer system it generates several charts based on current growth standards information available from the CDC, and an educational parent letter containing pre-loaded and custom behavioral, dietary and physical activity recommendations that are based on age and nutritional status.
The interpretation of growth includes Average Height Age, Average Weight Age, Ideal Body Weight (IBW), % IBW, Body Mass Index (BMI), BMI percentile and changes since a prior visit (weight, height, % IBW, and head circumference).
The generated charts consist of Height age curve, Weight age curve, BMI graph, IBW graph, weight percentile Z score graph, Height percentile Z score graph, and Head circumference age curve. Interpretation of growth values may optionally be included in the educational parent letter, as well as the pre-loaded and custom recommendations.
